Its great to be back doing face to face classes at the Harmony Hub in Chorley and a in place that's just opposite to Asley Park with its glorious Lime trees overlooking the hub and Dojo next door. The classes are held in the Dojo where there is plenty of space to relax and feel welcome. In this series of workshops, we focus on local herbs either those easily foraged or growing locally through the seasons or in spices that are sourced from local markets or grocers. The aim of these classes is to reconnect local people back to our herbal heritage, focusing on plant identification and getting to learn about them in an experiential way through guided tastings and discussions. there will always be a demonstration of medicines that can be made in home kitchens.
Deep in winter as the land sleeps and the energy draws back to the earth. Many of us find that we want to draw inwards too, relax as we try to find calm in the midst of the frenzy of the festive season. This class explores two amazing herbs for bringing calm. Valerian is a fantastic, well-known nerve tonic good for anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia and all kinds of stress in the body. Chamomile is good for anxiety too but can also be very effective in digestive problems, headaches, inflammation, urinary problems, and its great for children too. This two hour class explores the uses of these two plants through guided tastings, in a way that is fun and interactive and explores how to use them in medicines and healing. I will be demonstrating how to make a lovely calming glycerite, which is non alcoholic and can be made in the kitchen. There will be some dried herbs for sale and tinctures. The cost of the class is £20 and needs to be pre-booked via paypal. It includes a comprehensive emailed handout. Any cancellations made within 48 hours of the start of the class will not be refunded.
