We have many transitions in our life that are a natural and inevitable part of our life journey.
Birth, Coming of age, Marriage, Having babies, naming them, Menopause, losing someone you love and death are some of those major transitions. Other transitions include the ending of relationships ,changing your name, moving house or even changing your career. Sometimes these changes can be joyful and life enhancing and sometimes they can be very distressing and challenging.
A rite of passage or a ceremony is one of the ways we acknowledge those major transitions in life, which can often be with the support of family and community. From ancient times and in many earth-based communities around the world, ceremonies are a very important way to honour these transitions and can help us to get through a time that can life changing and sometimes challenging.
The work of a professional celebrant is to help individuals, families and communities navigate those transitions by supporting those involved and helping to plan and lead important ceremonies. These can be funerals, memorials, internment of ashes or as well as ceremonies that focus on a celebration of love and commitment as in a Handfasting. Most ceremonies and Celebrations involve community and I am keen to work with families and communities who want a major part in participating in that ceremony too.
For these important ceremonies its good to work with a professional celebrant, trained with reputable organisations and who are members of the a professional organisations with a strict code of contact.
I have trained as a funeral celebrant with with Civil Celebrants and have an NVQ 3 in funeral celebrancy. I am also trained with the Sacred Celebrants Academy in Glastonbury in handfastings, passing over ceremonies and baby and adult naming ceremonies .
I am a member of the Association of Independent Celebrants.
